Place a piece of capillary mat on the bottom ledge of planter.
|| Tuck the sides and ends into the groove that runs around the bottom perimeter of the planter.
||Place the plant material, complete with grow pot, into the planter.
IMPORTANT: The nursery grow pot must have bottom drain holes
|| Water each plant individually, allowing excess water to drain out of bottom drain holes.
|| Continue to pour water into the planter until the water level reaches 1"
above the bottom of the nursery grow pot.
|| The plants use the initial water for the first 5 or 6 days, wick up (capillary action) additional water for the next 4 or 5 days and then go dry for the last couple of days.
IMPORTANT: Plants must be allowed to dry out for at least 2 days.
|| Now it's time to WATER THE PLANTER - no need to water each individual plant. By establishing the amount of water used for each planter, you now can determine the desired time schedule for watering - 10 days, 14 days, 18 days, etc.
